The political atmosphere ahead of 2019, has taken a new dimension as regards to the Nsit Ubium State constituency seat. The latest development, In respect of the candidacy of Barr. Otobong Bob, who from the best of my knowledge has received more supports and endorsements from the people, groups and wards than any other aspirant so far, was the support the Ubium north/south women gave to him yesterday.
It was an historic moment as the young, dynamic, articulate, focused gentleman, who has offered himself to serve the people was wholeheartedly accepted and projected as the best material in the 2019 Nsit Ubium State constituency market, and most durable, with wealth of experience.
The women numbering more than 500 yesterday gathered at Ikot Ewere Ubium, to drump support for Barr. Otobong Bob. This was also in line with the decision of the Ubium elders, who had earlier endorsed him, and given him the staff of leadership and the blessing of the mantle for 2019 State constituency of Nsit Ubium to go ahead.
The decision by the women was reached in a women solidarity meeting that played host to the who is who in Nsit Ubium, as far as the women participation in Nsit Ubium politics is concern.
Those in attendance were, the first female elected Chairman of Nsit Ubium, Hon. Dr. Mrs. Dora Bassey, former PDP Women leader of Nsit Ubium, Obonganwan Imaobong Hanson, Mrs. J. Ekpo, and Apostle Alice Adams. Others were, Hon. Abigail Akpa, Mrs Eno Dickson Bob, Hon. Deaconess Uduak Effiong, Deaconess Mercy Ekom, Lady Ekaette Eshiet, Lady Idongesit Sampson, Lady Edna Ekpo, Lady princess Nse Esema, Lady Margaret Dickson, Lady Nse Thompson, and lady Mary Anthony among others.
Hon. Dr. Mrs . Dora Bassey, who was the first female chairman of Nsit Ubium said that she was fully in support of the candidacy of Barr. Otobong Bob, maintained that the decision of the elders who earlier endorsed him to contest was a good decision, and that according to her, “Barr Otobong Bob is in the interest of the people, base on the fact that Senator Effiong is a good man, and has carried the Nsit Ubium people along, both young and old in decision making”, she believed that the son will do even more than that.
The former chairman whose tenure recorded remarkable success and rewarding further stated that she and many others are the products of the goodwill of Senator Effiong Bob, who according to her, made her a council chairman. She used the occasion to charged the people of Nsit Ubium to continue in supporting Barr. Otobong Bob and never to be distracted. She noted with dismay the misleading reports on the media that Senator Effiong Bob imposed his son on the people, maintaining that, it was the elders decision, and not solely that of the Senator Effiong.
The women who came out to support Barr. Otobong Bob, used the event to offer prayers for Governor Udom Emmanuel and his second term victory and Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke for a resounding victory in the coming 2019 House of Representative seat for Etinan Federal Constituency, who according to them, are the only preferred candidate.
