Senate on Tuesday paid last respect to their departed colleague, Senator Ali Wakili.

After the adoption of the last sitting’s resolution, Senate Leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan raised a point of order to call the attention of the Senate to the demise of the Bauch South Senator.

He said, “Mr. President, I rise under order 43. On Saturday, a very sad news filtered into our hearing that a very distinguished friend, brother and colleague, Senator Ali Wakili passed away.

“The customary of the Senate and indeed that National Assembly that whenever we lost a colleague, we observe a minute silence in his honour and adjourn the business of the day as a sign of respect for the departed soul,” he added.

Senator Lawan went ahead to move motions on it and it was passed by the house.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki described the deatg of the Bauchi South Senator as a great loss not to the Bauchi state alone but to the entire nation.
