As the sons and daughters of Ilobu troop out today to select another set of leaders that will take over the mantle of leadership of Ilobu Development Union after a sterling and achievements-ladden four years of Alh Lekan Yusuff-led administration,  Insight media brings you the profile of the aspirants for the topmost post of the union – The President.

This is part of our contribution towards the development of the ancient town.

1. Alhaji Dauda Adebisi-Balogun

This man is a shining example and a reflective mirror for many aspiring youths who hoped for a successful managerial position in the banking industry.

He hold a B. Sc in Business Administration from the University of Lagos, an MBA from the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, he is a member of the prestigious Chattered Institute of Administration and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Management. Very well trained in the act of business and public management.

Alhaji Dauda Adebisi-Balogun hails from Toki’s Compound in Ilobu. He has worked with Afribank PLC for several years before he was specially invited to join Trans International Bank PLC (TIB) based on his expertise in Foreign Exchange management.

It is also on record that as a vibrant member and Chairman of IDU, Lagos Branch, where the idea of the annual Ilobu Day celebration originated from, his administration with the effort and support of some committed members of the union produced the first ever community oriented Magazine called “Ilobu Asake News”. The magazine produced a pathway to information dissemination to both natives and non-natives. It also provided very many people with the happenings around the world with a specific goal of presenting facts and figures about Ilobu and her affairs to the general populace.

Apart from his role at the Lagos Branch of IDU, his romance with the IDU National was superb. He was visible and active in most of the activities of IDU National, particularly during Ilobu Day Celebration which serves as a forum that usually bring all Ilobu sons and daughters together. Alhaji Dauda Adebisi-Balogun is the current Managing Director of OSPOLY Venture, Iree; a unit of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. This unit is saddled with the responsibility of looking outward and resourcefully generates revenue for the citadel of higher learning.

As the Managing Director of OSPOLY, Iree, he has also used his position to favour Ilobu youths; assisting them to secure admission, helping to resolve the usual unavoidable academic discord(s) witnessed by students of Ilobu origin in their daily activities and thus enabling a veritable pathway for the actualization of their lofty dreams to attain greater heights in life.

2. Engr. Wole Adeyemo

This quiet but highly intelligent man is seen at different fora, attending youths’ programme and on many occasions supporting the youths with his widow’s myth which usually go a long way to position most of these youths’ programme. He is tolerant, receptive, accommodative, understanding and is ever ready to share his wealth of experiences with the up-coming ones.

 

He is very agile, creative, vibrant and loaded with positive thoughts capable of rightly tilting events and episodes to achieve the desired success.
Engineer Wole Adeyemo was born into the Adeyemo Adebiyi family of Onileewe’s Compound, Ilobu on the 8th of December, 1950. His educational pursuit took him through St Micheal’s Primary school, Ilobu between 1957 and 1962, St Paul’s Modern School in 1963 and Oke Iragbiji Grammar School, Iragbiji between 1964 and 1968, where he passed with distinction in his School Certificate Examination. He also graduated with distinction in his HND, Mechanical Engineering programme from the Polytechnic, Ibadan (Ise logun Ise).

“Teacher Kekere” as he was fondly called then taught at St Paul’s Modern School, Ilobu in 1969, Agbeye Baptist High School, Oyo in 1970 and Baptist High School, Ede between 1973 and 1974. After his National Youth Service Corps’ programme with the NEPA Bauchi in 1976/1977, he came back to his alma malter; the Polytechnic Ibadan to work as a Course Coordinator at the Vocational Skills Improvement Unit in 1978. In 1981, he left the Polytechnic for the Nigeria Machine Tools Limited, Osogbo. The work herein at Nigeria Machine Tools Ltd took him to India at the Hindustan Machine Tools Limited for further training for close to two years before returning to Osogbo. He worked in various capcities as Engineer, Senior Engineer and bowed out as a Manager at the Nigeria Machine Tools Limited, Osogbo in 1991.

After he had left the Nigeria Machine Tools, Osogbo, he went into self employment and floated Etiko Rentals. This self sustained and managed venture became visible at all ceremonies and thus afforded him the opportunity to humbly offer himself for community service via Ilobu Descendant Union, where he started as a foundation member. He was a master planner and perfect organizer as far as Ilobu Day Celebration was concerned.

His employment as a staff of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa in 1998 created another thorough path for many up-coming ones aspiring for further studies to secure admission into the Federal Polytechnic, Offa. The population of students from Ilobu in the school rose astronomically and INSU, FEDPOFFA became very vibrant and active. I He left the institution in the year 2013 and he had since been appointed as a Commissioner of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC).

Apart from his dedication to work and community service, he is a devoted Christian of the Anglican family; very committed to church activities. He is a Jerusalam Pilgrim (JP, 2009). (Credits: Illustrious sons and daughters of Ilobu, vol 1)

 

3. Town Planner Muftau Ilufoye Olawoyin 

Town Planner Olawoyin is a humble personality, energetic individual, ardent youth lover and seasoned administrator who has shown interest in the topmost seat of the Ilobu Development Union. He is from Akunwonsi’s compound. He attended Ilobu High School before he proceeded to The Polytechnics, Ibadan and later to University of Ibadan.
Professional background
Town Planner Muftau as the name implies is a registered member of Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, an organization that he has served in different capacities ranging from treasurer to financial secretary and so on.
Immediately after leaving school, Mr. Olawoyin went into teaching and this took him to a number of schools including Ifon –Erin high school. He rose to the level of Vice Principal (Academics) at the Inisha Grammar school before he switched to the service of local government commission in the state.
Olawoyin was also at a time the Town planning coordinator, Ede federal constituency comprising of Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo LGAs before he went ahead to serve as the Director, town planning and land service in several local governments. He is presently the Director of operations at the Osun Asset Management, Osogbo.

Despite his hectic official schedule, he has also availed himself for the service of Ilobu as he was among the pioneer members of Ilobu Development Union. This shows how experience he is!

Olawoyin served as secretary for years at the IDU, Osogbo branch before he held same office at the national level under the presidency of Alhaji Tayo Ajayi. He is till today, a honourary member of the union.
