No fewer than 133,324 applicants into the Nigeria police constable cadre have been shortlisted for final screening into the force.
Spokesman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Ikechukwu Ani, disclosed this yesterday, noting that the commission has deployed its staff to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with Chairman of the Commission, Mike Okiro, as the National Coordinator.
Ani said: “The recruitment of 6000 Nigerians into the Nigeria Police Force as Constables will commence on Monday, May 7, 2018 in the 36 states Police Command Headquarters and the FCT.
“The exercise will start with screening of the applicant’s physical attributes and their credentials. Invitations have already been sent to the applicants who are expected to report at the screening venues on days indicated in their invites.”
A total of 133, 324 applicants would be screened during the exercise, even as Kaduna State recorded the highest number of applicants with 6,962, while Lagos has the least with 1,013 applicants.
Katsina has the second highest applicants with 6,676 followed by Benue and Niger states with 6,474 and 6,409 in that order.
“Bayelsa is the second least with 1,097 applicants followed by Anambra has 1,117 and Ebonyi with 1,303 applicants.
Addressing the staff in Abuja, Permanent Secretary of the Police Affairs Ministry and Secretary of the commission, Musa Istifanus, cautioned that the PSC would sanction any staff that compromises the national assignment.
