One of the governorship aspirants under the platform of All Progressives Congress, Dr Olayinka Taofeeq Ayinde has “stepped aside” from the race.
Fondly called Olokoobi, Ayinde made his intention to back out from the race known earlier today in Osogbo through a release he personally signed.
The statement reads, “It is evidently clear that I have made my intention to govern the State known to the entire people of the State of Osun and it is also evidently clear that we have successfully flagged off and taken our campaigns across the entire State where the people have been made to get acquainted with our vision, mission, agenda, programmes and all others that we have prepared intact to make Osun an enviable State and a model for other States of Nigeria.
“However, haven critically assessed the political scenario in the State and haven critically performed the analysis of my level of involvement in the whole exercise, I Engr. Dr. Taofeek Olayinka Ayinde OLOKOOBI “DR LEE ” with my convictions and decisions that my personal aspiration is to live a purposeful life and touch as many as possible other people’s in a very positive way and my political goal to sacrifice my best possible to create rich and prosperous environment for everybody to be happy and I have decided to take my liberty to mean working for the future generations of my people in the State and Nigeria, hereby announce my stepping aside from the governorship contest based on reasons best known to me and my ever ready supporters across the State.
The Iwo-born politician reiterated his loyalty to his party and promised to support and work for it in the coming gubernatorial election.
“While still upholding our convictions and decisions to bring back hope, power and responsibility to the people of Osun, I hereby urge my supporters and allies in the pursuit to remain steadfast in their believe in my capability to govern the State and to remain committed to the progress of the Party.
“Meanwhile all stakeholders should come together and endeavor to sacrifice with the purposeful intentions and decisions to make the Party (APC) remain strong, reliable and acceptable to the entire masses of the State and Nigeria,” he said.
He appreciated his teeming supporters and loyalists and promised to continually be at their services.
