The federal capital territory command of the Nigeria Police has said that it has not got any report of the abduction of the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye.
Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi west at the National Assembly, was reportedly kidnapped on Thursday, July 26, by unknown gunmen in Abuja, on his way to Kogi state. Sen. Ben Murray Bruce, who disclosed this on his twitter handle – @benmurraybruce said – “I have just been informed by Moses Melaye, @dino_melaye’s brother, that Dino has been abducted by unknown persons in a Toyota Sienna that blocked their car and overpowered them on their way to Kogi to answer to Dino’s court case. Let’s be on the watch out. Will keep you updated.”
The Sun reports that the FCT police command said it was not aware of the abduction as nobody has informed the police.. “We do not have any report about the kidnap of Senator Dino Melaye,” public relations officer of the command, Anjuguri Mamza, was quoted to have said.
It will be recalled that Senator Dino Melaye was on Wednesday, July 25, arraigned in a FCT high court, Apo, on a six-count charge bordering on an attempt to escape from custody and damage of Police property.
Melaye denied committing the offences, while Justice Silvanus Oriji granted him bail in the sum of N5 million.
Oriji also ordered him to produce two sureties in like sum, as part of the bail condition.
