At the various polling points in Iragbiji; LA primary School Popo, Ward 1, Oja Oba Town Hall, Ward 2, Osolo Hall, Ward 1 and Oke-Osun, Ward 1B, voters arrived as early as 7:30, checking their names on the pasted voters’ list, while also waiting on INEC officials to setup.
At exactly 8:24, accreditation and voting started at polling Unit 2, LA Primary School Popo, Iragbiji.
Some voters however complained they could not find their names on the voters register, while it took some seconds before finger prints of some others could be verified.
The INEC Presiding Officer, Mr Lawal Adewale, said they had no challenges at the voting unit as materials arrived early and they setup on time.
He said the reason why they started accreditation and voting beyond 8am was because they had to enlighten the voters, most of who didn’t arrive the voting unit before 8am, on how to conduct themselves and how to vote and fold the ballot papers.
He explained that those complaining they could not find their names on the voters’ register were not to be at the polling unit to vote.
More than 200 voters were at the polling unit (comprising three polling points) to cast their vote immediately the voting process began.
