President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Osun electorates to vote for the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola in the governorship election holding on Saturday, September 22 in the state.
Buhari called on the electorates to vote Oyetola in order to continue the good work done by Governor Rauf Aregbesola noting that the party’s candidate was the right man for the job. He described the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, administration in the state as “dark days” which Osun people must not return to.
The President said, “This is why you must all come out and vote for the APC on the 22 of September, 2018. Osun must remain APC. Osun must continue on the path of progress. Osun must not allow the dark days to return.”
Buhari commended Aregbesola for the development he brought to the state and urged the electorates to ensure the continuity of the gesture by voting Oyetola on Saturday. He said that corruption style has been consigned into history books.
According to him, “we will continue to develop strategic projects. Our party has no tolerance for corruption. We will consign corruption style into history books. Nigeria will be free from corrupt leaders. Osun must remain APC.”
Buhari said that his government is committed to building infrastructure in the state noting that the bridge connecting Osogbo and Ilobu and the Iwo – Ibadan road would be completed before the end of his tenure.
On his part, the governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola said that the party is winning on Saturday. “We are winning the election on Saturday, September 22 by the grace of God and we are coming back to jubilate. Why must God support us? Because we have worked 24 hours of every single day of the 2, 922 days allowed by the Constitution to serve the people of this state. Merely looking at me will testify to that fact.”
“Our people have done the impossible here, we have changed the face of Osun and for that reason and the will and power of God, and we are returning Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola on September 22 as the governor-elect and we returning Benedict Oluwagboyega Alabi as the deputy governor-elect. Both of them will be sworn in on Tuesday, November 27.”
The APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu admonished Osun people to elect trusted hands as exemplified by the party’s candidates. He said the party would maintain peace at the poll and also play by the rules asking the people of the state to vote APC.
The national Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole urged electorates to vote for Oyetola saying he has required experience to govern the state.
He said “Osun state needs someone with competence and not an apprentice. Oyetola is a successful and experienced man in governance; he is the one Osun state need.”
