The Osun State Government has reacted to its critics over the education policies of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola-led administration.

The State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Kola Omotunde-Young on Wednesday in Osogbo highlighted the achievements of the outgoing administration in the state noting that it has made huge investment in the education sector of the state.

Omotunde-Young added that the Aregbesola’s administration has significantly improved the performance of students in West Africa Examination Council from 15.5% in 2010 to 31% in 2018.

He gave other breakdown that performance of students in WAEC has also improved in mathematics to 53%, English Language 70%, Further mathematics 72.5%, Financial Accounting 70% and 59.82% improvement in Biology.

“In 2010, when Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola came on board as the governor of the state of Osun, his first assignment was to overhaul the education sector and ensure its productivity and efficiency.

“The education summit held in the state 2011 which produced as part of its recommendations the segmentation of schools into elementary, middle and high schools and also segmentation of ministry of education into three senatorial districts to increase its efficiency and access to the grassroots,” the Commissioner said.

Also we want to state that among other achievements of the current government are Training and re-training of teachers, feeding on primary school students, provision of Opon-Imo and successful sponsorship of Medical Students of Osun State university sent to Ukraine.

He added that the infrastructural developments witnessed in education sector indeed Aregbesola is unprecedented in the history of the state.

He thereby urged the general to disregard the negative information being peddled on the social media saying that it does not represent the reality in ground.
