Aregbesola can be likened to a half of the yellow sun. The yellow sun colour the world in the day and brighten the surrounding in the afternoon.
But the yellow sun serves purposes at a time. To those who had washed and spread their cloth, it did a good thing drying it for them. And for those who go about their normal daily work activities, the striking of the sun makes life uncomfortable for them. They sweat profusely as if someone just finished eating hot yam flour with Egusi. So they would prefer it cold to having a sunny day.
But shall we blame God for permanent the sun in the day? Shall we question the sun for hearing and honouring the call of the Nature? Or is it the people that were wrong? Absolutely Not! Everybody has a say. You say it according to your perception. And trust me, You can’t be wrong with what is felt.
Ex Governor of Osun, His Excellency, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, had proved and represented well, the people of Osun to some extent! The transformation we demanded had been adhered to. Check the town, take a tour around. You will see the “CHANGE” we had earlier clamoured for. Even though there were confrontations but it is like that everywhere. He had done his best while leaving the rest for people coming behind him.
I was fortunate enough to travel with him through his political journey. While he was the driver, I were just a passenger. I criticized whenever he drive too fast or too rough because of the safety of myself and other passengers. And whenever he drives so slow, I yearned to the world because we are timed as a people! We ought to get there soon and not later.
I am a product of Aregbesola motivational talk and his winning actions. I attended public school right from my junior secondary school. There was a seminar I attended when I was just 11. That time, Aregbesola was speaking to us but I had travelled far in thought. He was emphasizing the importance of education. What inspired me was having the governor of my state right in front of me. And while I am seated, he was standing.
It wasn’t like that years before. You only get to see the governor on the children day and that is if you are lucky enough to be chosen among those that will march.
Governor Aregbesola was speaking that day and everybody maintained proper decorum. I was wishing I could be a personality that command such respect and honour.
And then he sang his favourite song on academics
“Eko dara pupo, eko lo laye tawa yi se,
Eko lo ngbe ni de IPO giga……
Aregbesola was a mentor but the kind of mentor I would always criticize. Reason being that I had much expectations of him. I have said this before ” Not every critics of an administration is an enemy and should not be regarded as one. We criticize to get more from them, than the already much done.
My 60% accolades stands still for Governor Aregbesola. This is the first time a political icon is getting a “B” from the people. It has always been an F9 because there were poor performances.
As you step off the position of incumbency to join the association of Ex, I, Yusuf Najat Abolade wish you the best from here.
Kudos! It is not a bye bye but see you again….
