Premises of the state of Osun House of Assembly was full specially enliven today as the Governor of the State, Mr Gboyega Oyetola presented the 2019 budget estimate to the State House of Assembly.
The budget tagged “Budget of Hope” is estimated at 152.5bn and is the first appropriation bill to be presented by the Mr Oyetola who was sworn in in November.
According to the governor, the expenses for the 2019 fiscal year of the state is tailored towards the attainment of the sustainable development goals in line with both national agenda.
While giving the breakdown of the budget, the governor stated that the income for the state is pegged at 150.4bn naira adding that a total sum of 91.95bn will be expended on capital projects that are critical to the development of the state and its people while 60.3bn will be used for the recurrent expenditures.
The budget also has a sum of 10bn naira earmarked for the education sector, 36.92bn for personnel, 4.3bn for health and 66m for information and technology.
Shortly before the presentation, the speaker of the House, Rt Hon Najeem Salam appreciated his colleagues for the peaceful coexistence that exist between the legislature and the executive in the state and urged members of the National Assembly to emulate such.
He expressed his optimism that the budget to be presented embeds necessary provisions for the emancipation of the state and assured the governor that the assembly under his watch will do the needful to ensure its smooth passage.
Present at the event are the Deputy Governor, Mr Olugboyega Alabi, Wife of the governor, Alh Kafayat Oyetola, National Assembly members led by the Chiefwhip of the Senate, Professor Olusola Adeyeye, Monarchs, Former Speaker of the state House, Rt Hon Adejare Bello, senior civil servants and party loyalists across the state.
