Barely 24 hours after youths of Agbarho Kingdom in Ughelli North local government area of Delta state invaded the palace of their monarch, the Osuvie of the Kingdom, HRM Samson Oghughunwa, the residents have installed their own choice.
The residents took the decision on Monday, December 3, after sacking the monarch, who fled the palace on Sunday, December 2 when youths invaded the royal compound.
Vanguard reports that the new monarch, HRH Williams Onokpite was installed as the new Osuvie of Agbarho by the Usuvweche of the kingdom.
It was reported that the monarch fled for his life before the youths gained entrance into the compound in Sunday following a running battle between the traditional ruler and his subjects over his leadership.
The report added that the incident was confirmed by the Delta State commissioner of police, Muhammad Mustafa. He, however, said the monarch was safe.
There had been an earlier warning from a former commissioner of police in Delta state that the tension in the town could result in snowball into bloodletting.
