An Appeal Court panel has disqualified itself and withdrawn from the case challenging the High Court judgement sitting in Gusau that recognized the faction of Abdulaziz Yari’s as the authentic candidates of the All Progressives Congress.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has rejected all candidates of the APC over inability to hold successful primaries.
A judgement of Abuja high court had upheld the decision of the INEC while a Zamfara high court recognized the governor’s faction.
In the court today, counsel to Kabiru Marafa, who is the leader of the other faction, Muhammad Nuhu alleged that his client has lost confidence in the panel because it has received $3m bribery.
“My client is not comfortable with them and urge the president of the court of appeal to constitute a new panel to entertain the case,” he said.
Following the allegation, the head of the panel, Ahmed Belgori disqualified himself and other members of the panel and said the President of the court of appeal will constitute another panel to hear the case.
