The grand finale of the campaign for the senatorial election of Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa popularly known as Asejere who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Osun central Senatorial District in the forthcoming national assembly held in Osogbo today.
Mr Adebiyi with the crowd of supporters
The shout of Asejere rented the air as the huge crowd walked through the major roads of the town canvassing ofr votes for the former chairman of Olorunda Local Government.
The crowd took time to enter into streets to conduct house to house campaign and promised an effective and productive representation when the people vote to elect Olaoluwa into office.
In the course of the road show, the crowd stumbled on the meeting of the Performing Musician Association of Nigeria, Osun State chapter where the Director General of the campaign, Engr Segun Adebiyi urged members of the association to support the aspiration of Olaoluwa by voting him as the senator to represent the senatorial district.
“I want to implore you all to let us put our hands together to vote based on competence, character and traceable affinity with a man we all know and have always related with and not someone whose affinity is more outside of Osun” he said.
Addressing the press after the event, Engr Adebiyi said he is confident of victory based on the lovable personality of his candidacy and his performance in the various capacities he has been privileged to serve the people in the course of his political journey.
” I am very confident of victory because my candidate is good and we have worked hard to convince the people on the need to allow him represent them at this critical time after the incumbent has wasted the last 8 years without nothing to show for it”.
He went further to say that those who are using the campaign of the calumny against his candidate on the issue of his academic qualifications are just ignorant of the truth
“I was the first person to have brought out his academic credentials from primary to secondary and post secondary and no one has been able to controvert it despite the fact that they have gone to verify the claims”.
“Bringing the dividends of democracy is not a function of how educated one is. Alh Gani Olaoluwa has been tested, he has been a local government chairman, and Executive Assistant to a governor as well as a party chairman and he discharged his duties with the fear of God and due diligence.
On the chance of the PDP at the polls generally he expressed confidence that not only will the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar win Osun with a landslide margin, he will also come victorious by polling the highest overall score generally at the national level.
“The APC is just being jittery having seen the imminent defeat. If you look at what has been happening in the last few days, PVCs and card readers have been burnt in the areas which are strongholds of the PDP. All these are signs of a party that is being confronted by an unavoidable defeat”.
