Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in his bid to improve the standard of living of all Kwarans visited Kpada Community in Patigi LGA.
The community is one of many in Kwara that has suffered over a decade government neglect in infrastructure such as lack of road networks, lack of effective and affordable healthcare delivery, non-access to modern telecommunications services, over 10years of no power supply, lack of quality education amongst other basic infrastructural needs.
The deputy to the Traditional Chief of Kpada, Alh. Baba Shaba Kpada was on ground to receive the Governor and his entourage. The Traditional Chief in his capacity delegated Alh. Abdul Gana, the Ciroma of Kpada to conduct the Governor’s entourage round all public facilities within the community for on spot assessment of what could best be described as an eyesore.
The Governor’s inspection of all public facilities in Kpada shows they all require urgent government attention just like several others in the state. The healthcare center that has not a single doctor for years and has not been functional in the last few years was also paid a visit. The community Head conducted AbdulRazaq round all the different units such as the emergency room, laboratories, maternity wing and the pharmacy departments in the hospital. He decried the poor conditions of the wards ranging from leaking roofs, spoilt ceilings and lack of personnel.
AbdulRazaq similarly inspected Government Secondary School, Kpada a school established through community efforts in 1981.
The Governor on behalf of Kpada community appreciated MTN Nigeria for channeling their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) towards revitalising the school as the poor conditions of the school over the years made it difficult for quality assurance in education.
The Ciroma of Kpada while conducting AbdulRazaq round the school also spoke on the deplorable state of infrastructure that has disqualified the school from being accredited by WAEC since its establishment.
AbdulRazaq however directed the Community Heads to channel all complaints to the government latest by Monday for immediate government intervention in order to fix the rots inherited from the past administrations and turn things around for the local population who over the years have not had democratic dividends in the true sense of the word.
The Community Head appreciated Governor AbdulRazaq for his kind heartedness and thanked him for finding time to identify with his people, especially after a long period of negligence by previous administrations.
AbdulRazaq also assured the Community Heads that the wellbeing of all Kwarans and infrastructural facilities improvement in the state are his major priorities and he will not derail from achieving them.
