The Kwara state Technical Committee on COVID-19 in collaboration with the State Ministry of Environment has concluded the fumigation and disinfection of all public facilities across the state in order to contain the spread of the virus.

The Technical Committee had constituted a sub-committee on fumigation that went round the three senatorial districts of this state to ensure a thorough job was done disinfecting places such as market squares, hospitals and clinics, traditional royal courts and other government public buildings that are known for housing gathering of people on weekly basis.

The exercise according to the Honourable Commissioner for Environment in the state,  Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saifuddeen was concluded at Bani, a community in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state after the team had visited other local governments in Kwara North to ensure the disinfection was properly carried out.

Reiterating his team’s readiness to ensure Kwara is COVID-19 free, the head of the fumigation sub-committee, Prof. Shehu Adaramaja of the University of Ilorin said that the team will be on standby for special needs, response and interventions in any parts of the state.
