As at the time of filing this report the Rector of the institution Dr. J. T. Adekolawole has not addressed the students physically except through a memo signed by the registrar where he ordered all the students to vacate the school premises citing the need to put in place good COVID-19 protocols in place and the END-SARS activities that has refused to abate as a reason.
The Speaker, Students Union Representative Council, Rt Honourable Oladepo Jamiu Adeniyi condemned in totality the memo released by the registrar tagging the peaceful demonstration of the students as endsars activities and on behalf of the Union requested the management to tender a sincere apology in black and white as such memo is a slap on the face of Nigerian students.
When interviewed, Deputy Rector Academics, Dr. Petirin assured that normalcy shall be restored soon enough.
“What ASUP had been fighting for in the past concerning lecture and practical schedule has been granted. Then they requested for earned allowance which was owed in 2013, 2014 and 2015 by the past administration and we have made part payment”, he revealed.
He further stressed that, “the bone of contention is the recent appointment made by the Rector which made ASUP believe there is enough fund to pay them off, but the management do not have the whole payment at their disposal and having reversed the appointment, I believe they will listen”.
He however made it known that the Chief Executive will call a round table meeting on Tuesday to resolve the ongoing crisis.
However, as today mark the beginning of the second week of the demonstration, students eagerly await the Rector to address them fatherly as it has been rumoured that he would be on campus today.
