Amina Akinniyi, a student of Fakunle Comprehensive High School emerged the best speaker in the 10th edition of Teens Speak Out organised by the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative.

The oratory and essay contest, which was organised to create a platform for teenagers to contribute to national discussion, was held on Tuesday in Osogbo.

Micheal Grace of Roseful International School emerged the winner of the Essay contest.

Speaking at the event, the Global Director of BBYDI, Abideen Olasupo, emphasized the importance of teenagers’ contribution to national development, stating that organization started the annual event in 2014 and “despite challenges emanating from absence of support, we have continued to hold this programme on yearly basis.

“Thousands of students have passed through this platform and they are doing wonderfully well in their respective areas of endeavors. This type of discussion is needed for national development and we shall continue to ensure this platform is afforded to other teenagers to contribute.”

Speaking at the event, former Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola lauded the organization for sustaining the event for a decade.

Aregbesola, who was represented by one of his aide, Ileowo Kikiowo, said “This program, meticulously curated to target secondary school students in Osun State, embodies a noble mission—to provide our young minds with a remarkable opportunity to develop crucial communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and a deep appreciation for public discourse.

“The vision of Teen Speakout 10.0 is equally inspiring—to become the forefront platform that enables young leaders to actively participate in and contribute to public discourses. It aims to groom top-tier cognitive skills in our kids and youths alike, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.”
