The 28-year-old shot United Kingdom-bound Cyril Igiebor, a member of Edo State Security Network, has died in Benin.
It was gathered yesterday that a private medical centre in Benin, to which he was initially rushed, refused to treat him, due to the inability to produce a police report.
The deceased, according to his elder brother, Sunny Igiebor, some days earlier, bought a flight ticket to enable him travel to the United Kingdom, after he secured a five-year work visa.
Cyril was accidentally shot last Friday by another member of the security network, identified as Moses Isimor, at a service of songs that took place at 5, Eheneden Lane, off Ehenede Street, off Ekehuan Road, Uzebu Quarters, Benin.
It was learnt that the overzealous vigilance member engaged in sporadic shooting, while some of the bullets hit Cyril in the arm and chest, and he died a few hours after being admitted to Edo government-owned hospital.
The suspected killer was subsequently arrested, his gun recovered, and he was taken to Edo Police Command headquarters in Benin for further interrogation and possible prosecution.
Police spokesman Chidi Nwabuzor, a Superintendent of Police (SP), could not be reached at press time.
