The new Executive Secretary of the Osun Health Insurance Agency, Dr Akintunde Akindele has debunked reports that the agency under him is planning to retrench workers.

Akindele, in a statement obtained by InsightMedia on Thursday, described the said report as mischievous and misleading.

He said the meeting held with both permanent and adhoc staff of the Osun Health Insurance Scheme was aimed at familiarizing the staff with the leadership of the agency.

The statement reads, “The attention of Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA) management has been drawn to a recent report that has been circulating regarding mass retrenchment at the agency and wishes to assure members of the public as well as the OSHIA ad-hoc community that the report is completely false, mischievous and utterly misleading.

“At the inaugural meeting held with the Ad-hoc Staff on Wednesday October 11, 2023; the new Executive Secretary, Dr Rasaq Akintunde Akindele praised the performing officers and asked them to rededicate themselves to the Agency.

“To bring sanity to the system and eradicate ghost workers, the ES asked the adhoc staff to reapply for their position with the assurance that as many as complied will be reabsorbed by the agency.

“I want to emphasize that there are no plans or discussions of any retrenchment at any time in the agency.

“If you have any concerns or questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly via the agency’s call centre (0700022556447). We will be willing to provide any clarifications or address any issues that you may have regarding this matter.”

Dr Akindele resumed as the Executive Secretary of the Agency last week to succeed the pioneer Executive Secretary, Dr Adeniyi Oginni.
