Youths in Iragbiji, Boripe local government area of Osun State have kicked against the conversion of Sustainable Development Goals Skill Acquisition project in the community to camp for Osun United Football Club by the Senator Ademola Adeleke-led government.

The youth, during a press conference at the town hall on Thursday, call on Governor Adeleke to immediately relocate the team from the facility within seven days.

Addressing the newsmen, Dr Jimoh Olorede, who is the Chairman of the Iragbiji Youths Association, said the community is unhappy with the way the State government converted the Federal Government project facilitates by the administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to camp ground for football team.

Olorede said, “This became expedient given the urgent need to salvage the sustainable development goals for which the Centre was constructed as well as the renewed hope agenda of the Federal Government from abandonment causative of priority misconception and misplacement by Osun State government led by governor Ademola Adeleke

“As a Community, we would not allow this happen. The mission of the SDGs as agreed upon by United Nations member countries, including Nigeria and other developed and developing countries to solve some of humanity’s biggest challenges must strictly be adhered to by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“The aim of the SDGs to end poverty and hunger, increase access to education, address migration and reduce inequality which necessitated the location of the Skill Acquisition Centrr at Iragbiji is paramount to us as indigenes of Iragbiji. This is what we want Governor Ademola Adeleke to know and understand.

The Skill Acquisition Centre is an SDGS project of the Federal Government facilitated by the immediate-past governor of the State, His Excellency Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola The project was completed and handed over to the Osun State government the twilight of Oyetola’s tenure in office.

We therefore urge governor Ademola Adeleke to complement the efforts of the facilitator of the project and his predecessor in office who is now a Minister by implementing the policy thrust of the Federal Government on the Centre. This is what we urge governor Ademola Adeleke and his government to do, instead of pursuing vendetta and making his predecessor a target of his calumnies

We’re aware that recently. His Royal Majesty, the Aragbijt of Iragbiji. Oba Abdur- Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV reacted to the undermining disposition of the state government whose machinery just brought unknown agents to the Community and suddenly turned the Centre to a campground The state government, as represented by the Deputy Governor, did well by visiting His Majesty. Aragbiji, upon his reaction. However, reneging on the promise to evacuate the building within seven days is worrisome and makes us wary of possible untoward mission

All youth of this ancient and great town are in support of Aragbiji’s position, and at this juncture, we urge governor Ademola Adeleke to relocate the occupants whose mission as obviously unrelated to the Centre’s, makes us suspicious of possible sinister agenda. and consequently causes us to be apprehensive of their presence.”

The youths also called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the matter by directing the Osun government to move the football team out of the place.

“We also appeal to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to direct Osun State government on adherence to our appeal by relocating his agents to a ministry, department or state agency related to their purpose and leaving Iragbiji Skill Acquisition Centre for its own purpose.”

When InsightMedia visited the facility, the bus of Osun United team was sighted with some youths, suspected to be footballers seen in the premises.
