Head-to-head and recent form

Ivory Coast are the most motivated team; surely, after a poor start to the tournament, they have nothing to lose. They defeated Mali 1-0 in the semi-final to advance.

Nigeria are under pressure to deliver for the first time in 11 years; they needed a 4-2 shootout win to eliminate South Africa from contention after a 1-1 draw in both regulation and extra time.

This is the fifth time the two nations will be meeting in Afcon since 2006. The wins and losses have been evenly shared, with no draws.

The last meeting was in the ongoing edition whereby the Super Eagles won by a solitary goal scored by William Troost-Ekong.
