The Osun State House of Assembly, has issued 7 days ultimatum to ministries, departments, and government agencies as well as local government councils to get in touch with Office of the State Auditor-General and Auditor-General for Local Governments with a view to responding to their queries.

 

The Speaker of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, during plenary of the House, informed that the report of the year 2023 State Auditor-General and that of Auditor-General for Local Governments have been submitted by the two offices.

 

He added that the submission was in accordance with the provisions of Section 125(2) of the Constitution and other extant laws.

 

The Speaker further stated that the Public Account Committee of the House has scrutinised the report and observed that some Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of Government as well as Local Government Councils are having some audit queries that are yet to be attended to.

He, then, enjoined the affected parastatals to get in touch with the office of the Auditor-General and respond to their queries within seven days.

 

The Speaker concluded that at the expiration of the one week deadline, the Public Accoubt Committee will invite the affected Agencies and Local Government Councils to appear before it to defend the Audit Inspection Report submitted against them.
