Lawmaker representing Irepodun/Orolu state constituency, Hon Adekunle Oladimeji has said his drive to birth a unity among Ilobu, Erin-Osun, Ifon-Osun and Osogbo and to get talented young people engaged, is reason he organized a football competition.

Oladimeji, who is the Deputy Majority Leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, said this on Monday at the final of Unity football competition, played in Ilobu.

The lawmaker said the initiative was to foster community relationship between Irepodun and other constituency and also promote the sport activities and showcase the talents inherently laden in those communities.

He said “ This the first time I am organizing this type of competition and it won’t be the last. The reason for this competition is to strengthen the relationship with other communities and also to show the world that we have numerous talents in Osun state.”

“I want to assure you that we will do more to foster unity among ourselves and to ensure we contribute to development of talents at the grassroots.”

The final match which was between Diamond FC of Osogbo and Warriors FC of Ilobu ended with 1-0 in favour of the team from the State capital.

Diamond FC scored the only goal just after the beginning of the second half in the cracking encounter watched by both only and physical audience at St Paul’s Grammar School playing field.

Cash and other gifts were awarded to the winners, first and second runners-up as Oladimeji promised to ensure improvement in subsequent editions.
