In his quest to reposition youths in the community through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi has joined the lawmaker representing Ayedire, Iwo and Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Mudashiru Lukman (L&K) to lay a foundation for a state of the art ICT Centre in Iwo.

The Centre which is located at the permanent site of the Federal College of Education Iwo will be fully equipped with computers to empower students and researchers for the overall development of the school, constituents and the nation at large.

Speaking on the official ceremony of the laying of foundation, Oluwo described the lawmaker as one of the best representatives the constituency ever had citing many projects he has facilitated to the constituency.

The lawmaker, explaining the idea behind the ICT Centre, said that the need to advance the community, make the youths and the students of the school innovative and compete favourably with their counterparts globally, propelled the facilitation.

“The world is now driven by technology and we thought it fits to empower our youths because there is nothing that you would do now without technology, even the manual aspect of filing the WAEC and JAMB forms is no longer in existence”, He said.

While assuring that the project would not be abandoned, he stated the reason for citing the Centre in the school is for proper management of the facilities.

“I am aware that my predecessors once built similar thing which has now become an habitat for wild animals, it is on on this note I am urging the management of the school to take proper care of the facilities, in the next 3 months, we will be here to commission the project” He Concluded.

The Provost of the school, Professor R.I Adebayo while appreciating the contributions of Mudashiru towards the school, said the lawmaker remains of one the greatest supporters of the school.

“On behalf of the management and staff of the Federal College of Education Iwo, I want to appreciate Mudashiru for his contributions to the school. As the Provost, I am bold to say that he remains the best contributors to the school with his 110 students currently enjoying free education under his Scholarship Scheme in our school and now with his facilitation of a modern ICT Centre, he has written his name on a rock board which will be difficult for anyone to erase”.

Among other dignitaries at the event were the Osun West PDP Senatorial Leader, Hon. Adesoye Oyetunde, Iwo and Ayedire PDP chairmen, Hon. Alidu Adeoye and Hon. Wasiu Akinwon, Council Chairmen across the three local government of the constituency, the Senior Legislative Aide to the lawmaker, Hon. Muraina Ibrahim Akala.
