The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Southwest, Abiodun Alabi has called on officers and men in the zone to double their efforts as the police has no reason to fail the public in the discharge of its constitutional duties.
Alabi said this on Thursday when he visited the Osun State Police Command as part of his tour of the zone.
“We don’t have any reason to fail the public and we can’t afford it. We must strive to give our best to provide security of lives and properties.” Alabi said.
The police chief said he has been to other States in the zone to assess the operations and arsenal of the force and expressed satisfaction in what he has seen so far.
He commended the Osun State Commissioner of Police for the works done so far in the state, most especially in terms of galvanizing stakeholders to join forces with the command.
Addressing the officers, DIG Alabi charged Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders to prioritize teamwork, welfare of their officers and to shun corruption at all times.
“Treat your junior officers the way you want your superior officers to treat you. Corruption has the major thing giving the police a bad image. We must fight it with our strengths. Learn from the vision of our IGP and I believe if you key into it, members of the public will surely appreciate you.”
He charged officers to embrace inter-agency synergy with sister agencies such as Amotekun, Department of State Security and other agencies.
Earlier in his address, the Commissioner of Police, Abba Umar appreciated the DIG, stating that the command has been living up to the expectation.
