…Says OSSIEC Chairman is a PDP member

Over 16 political parties announced their withdrawal from the forthcoming local Government Elections in Osun State.

The Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Osun State Chapter, Victor Akande said this at a press conference in Osogbo on Monday.

While explaining the parties reasons for withdrawing, Akande stated that the Current Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, Hassim Abioye was a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

While adding that the Chairman is not legally fit to conduct a free, fair and credible Local Government Election in Osun.

IPAC also alleged that the OSSIEC Chairman has plans to use PDP members we Electoral officers during the election .

“We have reliably gatherer that Abioys had perfected plans to use PDP members as Electoral Officers during the elections.

“His intention is to trap us into conducting our parties primary elections without disclosing the amount each party will pay which will, of course lead to efforts in futility after announcing exorbitant fees.

“We expected up to date information from Abioye as been done by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), but reverse is the case always have information about Osun Local Government Elections from PDP e-rats.

“The PDP-led administration in the state is intentionally creating avenues for crisis all over do as to scare our people away from the forthcoming council election as only a secured mind will have courage of going our to vote for his/her choice”, Akande stated.

The parties who withdrew thier application from the LGA elections are: Action Alliance, African Democratic Party, Accord Party, Social Democratic Party, African Action Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Allied Peoples Party, Peoples Redemption Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance Party, Zenith Labour Party, ,Action Democratic Party, Action Peoples Party, Labour Party, Boot Party, National Resuce Movement and Young Peoples Party.

Meanwhile,the All Progressives Congress has not indicated intention to participate in the polls. Leaving the ruling People’s Democratic Party the only party in the race.
