Arsenal midfielder, Martin Odegaard limps off of Norway’s clash with Austria in tears which sparks fear about his involvement in this weekend’s North London Derby

Odegaard appeared distraught as he was subbed off in the second half of Norway’s clash with Austria. Having been involved in a clash with Christoph Baumgartner, he was attended to by the team’s medical staff and was helped off in tears.

The severity of Odegaard’s injury is unclear but his reaction suggests that he has sustained a serious setback, sparking concerns he will not be available when Arsenal face Tottenham at the weekend.

The attacking midfielder only missed three games in the Premier League last season, due to a hip injury, and enjoyed a remarkably productive campaign, providing 10 assists and scoring eight goals as the Gunners finished second.

The Norway international now faces an anxious wait to discover the extent of the issue. Arsenal meet Spurs in a huge north London derby on Sunday before kicking off their Champions League campaign midweek against Atalanta. They then face a trip to Manchester City.

The Gunners will desperately hope that Odegaard is not seriously injured as they approach a crunch run of games.
