The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, has urged the police to expedite the investigation of the death of the 300-level student of Pure and Applied Botany of the university, Christianah Idowu.

“This act of violence must not go unanswered. We call on the Nigeria Police Force to expedite their investigation and ensure that justice is not delayed”, said the university in a statement signed by the Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations of the institution, Olasunkanmi Olajide, on Friday.

The institution said Idowu’s abduction and senseless murder in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has left the entire university broken-hearted and has brought the school great pain and untold sorrow.

It demanded that the security agencies must ensure that those behind the terrible acts paid for their misdeeds

Olajide disclosed that a delegation of the university led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, and the Student Union President, Ibraheem Adeyemi, visited the family on Friday to condole with the bereaved mother and other family members.

The statement partly reads “The university management stands in solidarity with her family, friends, and all who were touched by her life.”

Recall that the Lagos State Police Command had on Thursday said a 23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye, suspected to have kidnapped and killed Idowu has been arrested.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a terse post on X handle.
