The Councillors of Osogbo South Local Council Development Area have said they will not be attending tomorrow’s meeting arranged by the Osun State House of Assembly to look into crisis between the council Chairman, AbdulHakeem Olaoye and the Councillors.

The council parliamentarians have on Tuesday impeached Olaoye over alleged financial misappropriation.

According to a statement signed by four of them; namely, Badmus Akeem Olaiya (Leader), Bolanle Ademuyiwa (Dep. Leader), Olawale Waheed Olayemi (Acting Chairman) and Yinusa Muideen Ademola (Supervisor for Works), the Councillors alleged the State Assembly under Rt Hon Timothy Owoeye of compromise, stating that no official invitation has been sent to them.

They also alleged that the speaker had on Thursday met with the embattled chairman on Wednesday, where he promised him (Chairman) a soft landing.

The statement reads in part, “we are aware of the Radio and Television announcement purported made by State of Osun Assembly House Committee on Local Govt directing that all parties involved in the Removal saga in Osogbo South LCDA should meet at 10am tomorrow Friday 27th Dec, 2019.

“As at the time of this report, there was no formal invitation to we Parliamentarians involved in this matter. We are aware that a clandestine meetings was held this morning between the Speaker and the embattled and removed Chairman, Hon. AbdulHakeem Olaoye who was promised a soft landing by the Speaker. This is a clear indication that we will not have a fair hearing at the so called meeting of reconciliation.

“Besides, relevant Rules and orders of the House do not support the so called meeting, we would like to refer to House Order 18. It must also be noted that the unilateral reversal of the removal of former Chairman clearly indicated that the Speaker has taken side.”
