Manchester City on Wednesday night proved to the world why they should not be banned from UEFA Champions League as they beat Real Madrid at Bernabeu Stadium 2:1.
The match lived up to it’s hype as both teams started with world class line ups with Madrid boasting the likes of Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema and Marcelo while Pep Guadiola included started the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Berndado Silva and Kelvin De Bruyne.
The early exchanges were more about controlling possession for City while Real Madrid were ready to counter attack but the first half really had not much goal mouth action, so ended 0-0.
In the second half, Isco gave Real Madrid the lead on 60 minutes after Manchester City’s defensive mistake allowed the hosts in.
City introduced Raheem Sterling who became the catalyst for the next goal as City responded with a Gabriel Jesus header on 78 minutes before they won a penalty just four minutes later.
Man City’s Raheem Sterling was fouled by Dani Carvajal to which the referee pointed at the spot and issued a penalty.
There was more chaos for Real Madrid as captain Sergio Ramos was shown a straight red card on 86 minutes for tackling Jesus . The match ended with a great win for Manchester city, who now have to go home to defend the lead.
