As all indications have shown that former governor of Akwa-Ibom state and incumbent minority Leader of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio is leaving the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress, one of the strongest political leaders in the state and former Senator, Effiong Bob has said he will remain in the PDP.
Senator Bob made this known in a press statement signed by his media aide, Anietie Akpan and obtained by InsightMedia in Uyo.
Bob described the publication that listed his name as one of the decampees to the APC as “laughable and an unfounded speculations”.
The statement reads, “The attention of Senator Effiong Bob, FCIArb has been drawn to an online publication which insinuates and lists him as one of those to decamp from the PDP to the APC at a ceremony the publication says will hold on Wednesday August 8, 2018 at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.
“Senator Bob describes this as laughable stressing that nothing could be farther from the truth than the said unfounded speculation.
“Senator Effiong Bob sees himself as a true PDP man who had used that platform to represent the good people of Uyo Senatorial District for two consecutive terms in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and wonders why he should decamp from the party now that the fortunes of the PDP are brighter both in Akwa Ibom State and the country. Besides, Senator Bob does not understand why as a major stakeholder in Uyo Senatorial District, he would chose to effect his decampment in another senatorial district.
He points out that while he respects the decision of any individual to seek association with one political party or another, he has not contemplated leaving the PDP to the APC or any other political party for that matter.
“Senator Effiong Bob therefore calls on the people of Nsit Ubium, Uyo Senatorial District and Akwa Ibom State to ignore the attention-seeking publication but to continue to support the PDP and all PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
