The Inspector-General of Police and The Director-General of NYSC must hear this.

On 19th of September, 2018 my right was violated and battered not just as a citizen of this Nation but also as a Corps Member serving his fatherland by policemen at my place of work, led by DPO Anthony HQS Division Shendam.

Before I move further, let me introduce myself. My name is Apata Isiaq Abiola with state code PL/17B/3276 and place of primary assignment at Al-Iman Private School, Shendam Local Government, Plateau state. An origin of Kwara State (Ilorin to be precise). I graduated from University of Ilorin (Department of Agricultural & Biosystem Engineering).

There were many calls from friends and relatives that I should redeploy to somewhere close to my home, up to the extent that an uncle of mine promised me juicy offers If i relocate. Becoming self-dependent & self-reliance was my motive to harness the SAED program organized by the National Youth Service Corp.

I opened a multipurpose shop where I  run Barbing, Charging due to the nature of electricity in the community & also selling of recharge card in a community I can’t even speak their language, I humbled myself that I have to keep attending to a frequent questions like, “Corper, will you go when you finish your NYSC program?” I was loved & well respected by the people in the community.

On 19th of September 2018, around 9pm some police men came to my shop pretending to come after the smokers in the area even though, they were fully aware of their location, but they will never go there because they have their own share of the proceeds being received. I wouldn’t be surprise if I had known earlier that most of them seems drunk (with the odour and euphoric behaviour), I received countless number of slaps led by DPO Anthony & his ‘boys’ even after introducing myself as a Corps Member carrying the flag of Nigeria through NYSC. However, are policemen that carry arms and ammunition allowed to drink alcohol?

I’m writing this with a heart full of pain, and also for them to know that pen is mightier than sword because I can recall one of them asking if I could write, if pen was given to me after identifying myself as a Corp Member.

I want all Nigerians to kindly assist me in pushing this case forward till it gets to the appropriate authority.

My right was violated and I want justice.
