Singer Simi has voiced her displeasure with skit makers Ashmusy, Nons Miraj, and others for their skewed portrayal of African mothers
The content creators produced a skit in which they visited a restaurant while attired as traditional African mothers.
Dressed in their traditional attire, the skit captured them entering an ‘exotic’ restaurant as friends, displaying some ‘phoney’ mannerisms.
They settled down to eat their meals but did so uncivilly, snapping photos supposedly like African mothers and eventually carting away all the utensils.
Sickened by the video after viewing, Simi, criticised them for depicting African mothers in such a derogatory manner.
The ‘Duduke’ crooner described the video as a mess and expressed anger at their dog-like eating habits.
She argued that she didn’t know any mother with such a demeanor, tackling them to improve on their content.
Simi tweeted: “That video about African moms where they looked a mess and were eating like dogs made me mad. I don’t know anybody’s mom who acts like that. Y’all get your jokes together.”
Many in the comment section agreed with Simi’s criticisms but some others dismissed it, claiming it was merely a skit.
