A foremost sports club in Osun State, Osogbo Tennis Club, has sworn in Mr Abiola Oni, a Director in the state service as its new President.

Oni, who was sworn in at a modest event held within the club’s premises, will lead the new set of executives for the next two years.

Popularly known as Bishop, Oni had in an election held on the 15th February, emerged President with other executive members which include Rabi Ladipo as Vice President, Olatunji Shamsudeen, General Secretary and Niyi Oguntunde, Captain.

Others are Abiodun Owoeye,Treasurer, Joseph Akanbi, Social/Welfare Secretary, Bukola Ogundipe, Financial Secretary and Bowale Adekola as Internal Auditor.

The new President, in his inaugural speech, reflected on the rich tradition and history of the club and asserted “It is evident that we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us. I extend my sincere appreciation to the past leadership whose dedication has brought us to this point.It is their hard work that has provided us with a solid foundation on which we can further build and nurture to an enviable height”

“I stand before you as a proponent of tennis promotion, committed to fostering an environment where the love of the game can flourish. We will work diligently to provide ample opportunities to every member with different skill levels to engage in this beautiful sport” he assured

Continuing, Oni noted that; “Through coaching programs, tournaments, and community outreaches, we aim to elevate the presence of tennis within our city and beyond.”

“In our pursuit of promoting tennis, therefore, I want to emphasize the importance of a secure and welcoming environment. The safety and well-being of our members is paramount, and we will take proactive steps to ensure that our facilities and surroundings are not just conducive to excellent tennis but also provide a sense of security and comfort for all.”

“In addition to these vital aspects, I am committed to infrastructural developments that will enhance our club’s facilities and overall experience. Whether it’s improving court conditions, investing in better equipment, or creating spaces for social gatherings, we are dedicated to advancing our club’s infrastructure to serve all members in a best stead.”

Osogbo Tennis Club, established in 1991, is home to people from all walks of life such as the Deputy Governor, present and past Speakers of the State House of Assembly, Captains of industries, and those in the judiciary.
