Inmates in Correctional Facilities, most especially, those serving specific jail terms and awaiting trials, need nothing but encouragement, spiritual reflection and guidance towards a positive transformation.
This was the message as Tobest Liberation Movement and Empowerment Initiative paid a visit to the Ilesa medium security custodial center on Thursday.
The visit, led by the NGO’s Coordinator, Comrade Hassan Owolabi, also had speakers in both Islamic and Christian ways to speak with the inmates and also pray for them.
A statement by Owolabi obtained by InsightMedia said, “In a spirit of unity, we invited a Muslim and a Christian speaker to deliver impactful messages, emphasizing the power of self-reflection, spiritual growth, and positive change. This dual perspective allowed us to reach every inmate on a meaningful level, highlighting that regardless of faith, the path to rehabilitation and a new beginning is always possible.
“We believe in the power of second chances and are committed to supporting these individuals as they journey toward a brighter future. This visit is a reflection of our core values—respect, inclusiveness, and compassion—and our dedication to empowering lives even in the most challenging of environments. TLM donates, food stuffs, toiletries, writing materials etc.
We look forward to further initiatives that promote transformation and hope within our communities.”
The organization has embarked on a series of humanitarian gestures in recent times, the move Owolabi described as their contributions to the betterment of the society.
