Professor Adeolu Durotoye, a governorship aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) asserted on new year day that the crisis that will erupt in the All Progressives Congress (APC) will divide the party into ten factions and nine factions will join PDP. Professor Durotoye said this while addressing the congregation of family, friends, religious groups and political associates from all parts of Osun state who had gathered to celebrate the New Year with him at his country home in Osogbo.
The programme which started with prayers had in attendance the President of Osogbo Progressive Union, Ambassador Rasaq Siyanbola, Baale Dr. Lawal, Hon. Tunde Abesin, Dr. Tella, Chief Arowosola, Alh. Atanda and other prominent sons and daughters of Osogbo as well as PDP leaders and members from all the Local Government Areas in the state.
He expressed his confidence in becoming the flagbearer of the PDP and assured the congregation that “the trying time of the party is over” and the party is now settled. Adding that “the crisis that will engulf the APC when it (APC) holds its convention will split the party into ten groups and nine factions will defect to PDP after I clinch the PDP ticket.”
The Professor of Political Science revealed his vision and mission for Osun state and urged all the PDP loyalist and Osun indigenes and residents to go and get their voter’s card and be ready to vote for him in the September 22, 2018 governorship elections in Osun state.
He said “I am not contesting because of fame or wealth. I already have those ones by the grace of God having reached the peak of my chosen career (Professor). But the zeal to serve the people of Osun has been the driving force. If we continue to watch the situation of things like this, Osun will collapse.”
“I’m offering myself for selfless service that will not only rescue the state but also boost our economy and secure a brighter future for the present and coming generations. We will create minimum of five thousand jobs in each local governments. I mean gainful employment across all sectors.”
While talking how he intends to revive the agricultural sector and make it viable and profitable, the Osogbo-born politician said “I have held meetings with farmers in Osun and I have identified the major problems facing them as lack of processing facilities. We will bring processing facilities to all local government and make farming more lucrative and productive for the young and vibrant youths to invest in.”
Prof. Durotoye, who is the Provost, College of Social and Management Sciences at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti also highlighted the problems in the educational sector and promised to find a lasting solution to them by ensuring that teachers are paid and the spirit of the students are resuscitated.
