The University Of Ilorin Students Union 2017/2018 , Reedof-led administration is set to hold a very magnanimous event, the Spelling Bee which is the first of its kind in the history of the Union.This was made known by the incumbent Assistant General Secretary of the Union, Comrade Ibrahim Aminat Modupe popularly known as AMAT who confirmed that the program and its budget has been approved by the Students Union Senate Council during the sitting held on Saturday 23rd December, 2017.
AMAT stated that the competition is to enable students develop and task themselves.
She added that the competition will be held in the second semester of the Academic session, stating that preliminaries will be conducted this semester(first) if need be.
She said ” The competition is going to take a very distinguished way as it will be including the specially able students which is different from the conventional ways being adopted by most Universities’ Students Union”.
Briefing on how the program will be staged, she said for normal students, each Faculty of the University will produce 3 representatives through the preliminary stages which would be from 12th February to 16th February. Three best from each faculty will then proceed for the inter faculty stage and 3 faculties would have a chance of winning the first 3 prizes, others attaining certificate of participation after several stages of the competition. And the Specially able Students segment will be done among one another.
She then urged students to create awareness of the competition to Unilorites as it promises to be scintillating and educative.
