The Yoruba Youth Council worldwide on Sunday has expressed sadness over the lost of a Former President of Nigerian Bar Association and President, Yoruba Council of Elders, Chief Idowu Sofola who died in the early hours of Saturday at his residence in Ogun State.

This was contained in a condolence message signed by the National President of the council, Comrade Eric Oluwole and obtained by InsightMedia in Akure.

The council described the late Yoruba leader as an icon of Unity, preacher peace and epitome of love whose leadership experience and sagacity will be greatly missed by the Yoruba race and Nigeria as a whole.

The statement reads in part, “The Yoruba Youth Council received with a shock, the death of Former President of Nigerian Bar Association President of Yoruba Council of Elders, Chief Dr. Idowu Sofola who died in the early hours of Saturday at his Ogun State residence. This is a very sad development.

“Chief Sofola was until his death, a great leader and reliable statesman whose selfless contributions towards the development of humanity across the grassroots will forever be missed.

“He can simply be described as an epitome of integrity, honesty and icon of love and peace. His death is not only a loss to Ogun State and Yoruba nation worldwide but also a great loss to country as the vacuum left will be a herculean task to fill. He sagacity will be greatly missed by Yoruba youths worldwide.” The statement added.

The council pray to Almighty Allah to grant Chief Sofola eternal rest in Aljanah Firdous.
