The protest against the continued detention of leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky today went bloody as the protesters clashed with the security men in Abuja.
The clash occurred at Wuse 2 as the protesters numbered over a thousand who have been on demonstration in Abuja for the past three weeks now were seen scampering for safety.
Passers-by also vacated the route as the flame of police teargas rented the atmosphere.
A Corp member, who spoke with Insight media on the condition of anonymity said, “I heard gunshots and they (security men) have beaten one of the protesters bloody. They shot canon water, teargas and bullets at protesters. But I really thank God for my life”.
The leader of the IMN also known as Shiites has been in detention since 2016 and there has been rumour about his health.
