The Millennials Active Citizenship Advocacy Africa (MACAA) has announced, her CITIZENS CONFERENCE, ILORIN 2018.
In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Seun Awogbenle and released in Ilorin on Thursday, the organization noted that the conference is line with its resolve to strengthen and deepen democratic governance.
He said that “the CITIZENS CONFERENCE will be an annual convergence of citizens, mostly young people of different ethnic groupings to have discussion and debate on a specific matter of state and policy.”
He disclosed that this year’s conference with the Theme, NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN AND THEN WHAT? will hold on Saturday, August 11 at the Kwara State Government Banquet Hall, Ahmadu Bello Way, GRA Ilorin.
The statement reads “our panel of discussants will lead discussions, share thoughtful positions and provide a practical framework on the next line of action for the new constitutional provision at the event.
“We are positive that the recommendations can serve as a political direction and model that work for young people who have strong will, desire and interest in public service in terms of approach and processes.”
Awogbenle stressed that “the organization has an unstinting conviction, that although the challenges that stake us may appear manifold and profound, they only require our collective attention, deliberation, and action.
Hence, just like Stephen R Covey posited in his 8th Habit, “the most important habit of the 21st century is the habit of helping people find their voice”, as a civil society organization, it behoves on us to provide many of such organized platforms for citizens participation.”
While reiterating the commitment of the organization to helping Millennials find their voice, unlock the power of the citizen and inspire Africa’s new tribe, he added that the list of panelist will be reeled out in the coming days.
