As the world celebrate International Youth Day for the year 2018, members of Youths’ Vanguard for National Development have officially launched their group.

The aim of the group according to one of the members, Basit Olalekan Abubakar was to form a vibrant platform with the sole aim of integrating the young Nigerians into the political space and policy making of the country.

Basit opined that the vigour, vitality and strength of the youths who according to him constitute the largest percentage of the population, are what needed to facilitate the national development.

He said, “Youths are important people all around the world, and are marked with special qualities. They are endowed with uncommon energy, vitality, determination, doggedness, resilience and indomitable will power to accomplish a set objective.

“The world has come to the understanding of the strategic importance of youths’ emancipation and most States in the developed world have invested a lot in youth development.

“However the third world, which houses most African, Asian, Eastern Europe and Latin America, have yet to enable the youth take their rightful place in the sociopolitical strata of their respective states. Rather than enabling youth inclusion, their policy is replete with several anti-youth policies and programmes while they have continuously trapped the youth in a perpetual State of ignorance, Stagnation and economic dependency, while using them as tool for political disruption, ethnic violence and social discord,” he added.

The Historian added that the group is not an avenue for partisan politics and is open for all young individuals with tracked record of achievement and integrity.

“You have to be a youth with a difference. You have to liberate other youths. Be part of a Nigerian Youth rescue mission.”
