It was on the first of October
A Friday we will always remember
As Nigeria, a former British colony
Gained freedom after all the cacophony
A day there was jubilation
From the North to the South of our Nation
Every Nigerian was so elated
For the freedom, we were contented
A day the Nation was on a festive mood
With jamboree in Lagos from every crany and nook
All for our political independence
Finally directing our affairs, but with negligence
Three years after,we gained sovereignty
For any Nation,it’s a supreme authority
Which led to having our own supreme court
All over the country, it’s the highest court
The system of government was parliamentary
Which initially looks so elementary
But totally different from the contrapuntal paramountcy
Which also back our constitutional supremacy
But what happened after our political freedom
This is a question for the randoms!
Do i say our fight for freedom was too early?
To Awolowo,we are known for politics of the belly
Our major problem is bad leadership
In theory we see democracy, but in practical it’s dictatorship
Let’s pray for a leader like Mandela
Who librated the entire South Africa
