A Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Maitama has granted the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye bail.

The presiding judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu, considered and granted the bail on health grounds.

The Nation reports that Justice Halilu said Melaye should be granted bail because he cannot be arraigned on the stretcher or ‎on his hospital bed.

The senator was asked to produce three sureties, which must include a clerk of the National Assembly.

The other two sureties must be owners of properties within the Abuja metropolis.

The senator, who was accused of criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide, surrendered to the Nigeria Police Force on January 4, after the police eight days siege on his Abuja residence.

He was admitted at the police hospital, Abuja where he was receiving care before he was transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) headquarters.
