The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally in Jigawa state on Thursday, January 17 was marred by violence after a mob allegedly attacked police officers over the death of a party member.
A report by Premium Times has it that thousands of PDP supporters, including a former Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido, were at the rally which held in Gwaram local government area of the state.
However, violence at the rally reportedly erupted after a police officer who was said to be trying to control the crowd shot one of the participants who reportedly died.
Angered by the death of the individual, a mob reportedly began to riot and attacked police officers at the rally, burning down a police vehicle.
