The two leading senatorial candidates in Osun East senatorial district, Hon Ajibola Famurewa of the All Progressives Congress and Chief Francis Fadahunsi of the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday engaged in a battle of words on a popular radio station, Rave FM, Osogbo.

Famurewa who stated his achievements in his eight years in the lower chamber of the National Assembly and that of his party in the state and country, challenged his opponent to bring to the fore, what he and his party (PDP) has done for the people of the district.

In his response, the PDP candidate stated that he has used his influence to help many Ijesha sons to secure employment but declined comment on the achievements of his party.

When asked about the last governorship election, where the APC only won two local governments out of the ten, Famurewa responded thus;

“Yes, we won just two of the local governments but in overall, we had more votes than the PDP because our winnings were significant enough to swallow the margin.

“More so, the Social Democratic Party had the significant number of votes in the zone and now we are in coalition with them (SDP) and the Action Democratic Party who emerged fourth. It’s like three parties facing one in this elections. I don’t know how they will win.

When asked to comment on the alliance of Senator Iyiola Omisore, who was recently seen at the presidential rally of the APC dressed in complete APC attire, Fadahunsi said;

“The influence of Omisore to my emergence in Ife land four years ago was minimal. I’m known to Ife people and they casted their votes for me massively. I will still win in the Ife come next week.

The programme become dramatic when Hon Famurewa alleged Fadahunsi of attacking one Otunba Akinyooye during the 2015 election.

Fadahunsi responded that the said victim was the cause of the trouble that led to the injuries he incurred. He however didn’t deny his involvement in the attack.
