A Priest with the African Church, Akwa Ibom State Diocese, Reverend Richard Peters has called on security agencies to stop the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Nsima Ekere to stop the killings spree that is trailing his campaign train.
In a statement issued by the Reverend on Friday which he copied US Embassy, UN security council, European Union, Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the France Embassy, he narrated how scores of people have been killed in the state in the recent times.
“I have observed carefully the trend of events by the APC governorship candidate, Mr. Nsima Ekere in his desperate attempt to ascend the Hilltop Mansion by all means in 2019, quite a tall dream, and it is very glaring that Nsima Ekere has embarked on a killing spree to achieve this aim.
“It worthy to note that he is not a Governor but he is going about with 5 power bikes and a long convoy consisting of wayward people who accompany him in constituting a nuisance and threat to Akwa Ibom road users. He encourages his drivers to drive recklessly, which has resulted in the loss of many lives, including innocent children.
“On Wednesday this week, one Master Victor Ekong Okon-Iquo, an indigene of Okobo Local Government Area, was allegedly knocked down by Obong Nsima Ekere’s convoy while the APC guber candidate was heading to Oron Local Government Area for his campaign.
“Just three months ago, he was fingered in the death of over 5 people who were slaughtered for opposing Mr Ekere’s candidacy in their party, APC.
Before then, two years ago, at least 8 people were killed at Essene, by Mr Nsima Ekere’s convoy enroute Calabar from Port Harcourt.
“It is quite disheartening that a man who is so desperate to become a Governor of our great state, lacks a common seed of humility, and it leaves me wondering which State he is dreaming to govern.
ĹA first hand information reveals that Nsima Ekere has received a record breaking total of 64 petitions as the Managing Director of the NDDC, which is one of the primary reasons that led to his recent sack as the Managing Director of the NDDC.
“Nsima Ekere’s antecedence in leadership shows that he has never successfully held a leadership position to a full cycle without being sacked or through a voluntary resignation. As a one time Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Nsima Ekere resigned for fear of being impeached (sacked), thereby forfeiting the deputy governorship slot of Ikot Abasi people. It is no longer news that recently, he was also sacked as the Managing Director of the NDDC, thereby making Akwa Ibom miss the NDDC MD slot till the next thirty five years.
“I am calling on the people to be wary of Nsima Ekere because his agenda in the State is nothing far from killing innocent people who are unaware of his plans.
“I’m also calling on Mr. Ekere to immediately tender an unreserved apology and take full responsibility to the family of the innocent boy that was killed recently in Oron by his reckless convoy; he should as well disengage all his inexperienced drivers and touts he pompously recruited to aide him perfect his selfish aim.”
