Emerging reports has it that the Department of State Service has withdrawn the invitation it extended to Okechukwu Ibeanu, Independent National Electoral Commission National Commissioner in charge of logistics.

It was earlier reported that Ibeanu alongside Chidi Nwafor, the director of ICT; Ken Ukeagu, director of procurement; Osaze Uzzi, director of voter education and publicity; and Bimbo Oladunjoye, the assistant director of ICT were asked to report at DSS offices in Abuja by 2 pm on Tuesday.

The reason behind the withdrawal was not made public but it’s understood to be due to intervention of some ‘powerful Nigerians’ who cited timing.

The invitation was not unconnected with the postponement of the polls which the commission chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu blamed on ‘logistical sabotage’.
