Not less than forty-seven indigent students of Ilobu have been awarded scholarships at the 2019 edition of Dare Alabi annual scholarship for candidates of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board.
The scholarship which covers payment of JAMB forms for beneficiaries, has been an annual event by Mr Dare to mark his birthday.
The presentation of the scholarship was held on Saturday at Ilobu National Student’s Union secretariat, Laaro area, Ilobu, State of Osun.
According to Mr Alabi, the programme was co-sponsored by some illustrious sons and daughters of Ilobu, who have an uncanny love for educational growth and advancement and is aimed at advancing education in the community.
Dignitaries at the event applauded Mr Alabi for his unparalleled love for the young ones and diligent efforts towards education.
Speaking at the event, one-time president of Ilobu Development Union Alh. Bashir Ajani stressed the needs for the beneficiaries to never rest on their oars as they have the best of chance and opportunity to have been enrolled to complete secondary schools and he congratulated them for being able to scale through the hurdles to win the scholarships.
He also used the medium of exultant to narrate his biography, his voyage in Arabic before having the taste of western education.
He however advised the candidates to be more focused on their academic pursuit, adding that “nothing should deter you from being the best of education as the town has produced a graduate of medicine who is deaf and dumb”.
The event also host some other notable Dignitaries like, the incumbent president of Luminary club, Ilobu, Mr Adekunle Saheed, the immediate past president of the club, Hon Olasunkanmi Alase, Hon Biodun Ologunde, Mr Ishaq Adegbite members of Ilobu national students union and host of others.
Two out of the beneficiaries, Adebayo Quadri Olayemi and Ayanwale Haleemah who spoke on behalf of their colleagues appreciated the donors for the kind gestures and promised to be put in their best as they warm up for the exam.
In an interview with our correspondent, one of the parents of the beneficiaries, Mrs Feyisara, expressed her gratitude to Mr Alabi and other sponsors and urge people to emulate the kind gestures as it creates the path for the future generations.
