The Senate has withdrawn a suit challenging the legality of the suspension of Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The case filed at the Supreme Court is slated for mentioning tomorrow.

Yusuph Olaniyonu, Media Adviser to the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki made this known in Abuja on Monday.

He said the withdrawal was necessary in view of the intervention by the National Judicial Council.

“The Senate has therefore decided to discontinue the case it filed in the Supreme Court. It should be noted that the case has been slated for hearing tomorrow,” the statement read.

“This decision also affirms the confidence of the Senate in the ability of the NJC to successfully and creditably resolve the issues”.
